WedgeField K-8 School Prototype

SGM was responsible for full MEP design and construction administration services for this brand new, 155,000 square foot campus located in east Orange County. The student capacity is 1,030, making Wedgefield one of the largest K-12 prototype projects in Orlando. This project included a highly efficient chilled water system, low energy lighting, and low water consumption plumbing fixtures. Built within miles of the Atlantic Ocean, the outdoor HVAC system required protective coatings to prevent against erosion.
This project consists of the building new K-8 suburban prototype school, which meet Orange County Public School’s Design Guidelines, Design Standards and assigned educational program requirements. Major elements of the project include:

  1. A new two-story K-8 school building of approximately 136,387 GSF housing administration, classrooms, skills labs, cafeteria, gymnasium, PE, and custodial receiving building to accommodate a projected 1144 student stations.
  2. General Scope items within the site package included, related parking areas, parent loop, bus loop, play fields, outdoor activity areas, clearing and grubbing, earthwork, site utilities, storm water drainage system, landscaping and irrigation, relocation of existing canals, and site lighting.

SGM was involved from initial inspections to design and completion of close-out documents. We completed the project on time and within budget while ensuring satisfaction from our client.
