Nova Lakes High School

SGM provided commissioning services for Nova Lakes High School, formerly identified as the School District of Osceola County’s “AAA High School.” Located on a 46-acre site along Nova Road in St. Cloud, Florida, the approximately $184 million project encompasses nearly 346,000 square feet across 11 permanent buildings and provides more than 2,500 student stations. Designed by Schenkel Shultz and constructed by Wharton-Smith, the campus was developed to accommodate continued growth in eastern Osceola County and relieve overcrowding at Harmony and St. Cloud high schools.

The campus features a three-story academic building with classrooms, administrative offices, a media center, and student guidance facilities. Additional spaces include an auditorium, music facilities, career and technical education programs, a dining hall, gymnasium, locker rooms, and a central energy plant. Outdoor amenities include a football field and track, baseball and softball fields, basketball and tennis courts, and general recreation areas. Separate bus and parent circulation loops, covered drop-off areas, and 777 parking spaces support safe and efficient campus operations.

SGM’s commissioning services supported the verification and documentation of building-system installation, operation, and performance in accordance with the owner’s requirements and design intent. The commissioning process helped advance the project’s goals for energy efficiency, occupant comfort, operational reliability, and maintainability while supporting the district’s transition into the new facility.
